How to recognize a quality sofa?
With the number of technological resources and new materials available, it is sometimes difficult to assess the true quality of a piece of furniture.
Like everything in life, quality is extremely important. People fall in love with the designs, the aesthetic. However, it is very important to know how the furniture is made because the time that will last will depend on that.
If a sofa has a high price, it is not only because it is cute, but because it is well made. 15 years ago, people bought furniture for life. However, now many buy for fashion.
This being the case, there are some basic points to consider. For example, if you want a sofa to last eight to ten years, you should keep in mind the following:
First, make sure that the frame of the sofa is all wood, not ‘plywood’ or finite sheets that will not give you the resistance you need for many years. In fact, the furniture arm must be a complete piece as well, from the floor to the top.
It is important to ensure that the springs are worked with the eight-way hand tied. This is nothing other than the ‘spring’ tied by eight sides. That means that, when one of them moves, those next door also do not wear out more than others. Thus the sofa maintains the form. The furniture that only has ‘foam’ in its cushions and a bottom fabric that holds will not have that support. There is the difference in the investment. Once the sofa is deformed, do not solve it with a new upholstery, it simply has no solution.
In the same way, a good furniture manufacturer can work the piece to your liking, especially in terms of the firmness of the cushions.

If you want it softer or firmer, or if there is an overweight person at home, they should be able to design it that way. What happens is that, as a customer, you have to make your allowance and visit several stores. It’s about not getting carried away by the first thing you see. You have to sit on the furniture, touch it, look under the cushions, ask about its construction.
If you buy in the first one, you will not be able to compare. You have to see also the seams, that are the right ones. Do not forget the arm of the sofa, if it is not strong and at a party, a person sits on it until there was the sofa. In the same way, if you are going to buy a piece of leather, it must be ‘top grain’, that is, the skin on top, which has the most durability.
In many places, to cheapen the piece, they use genuine leather in the parts that are seen with the naked eye, that is, the cushion or arms, but everything else is worked on vinyl or on lower quality leather. You should buy the best you can according to your budget.
Ideally, you should separate from your budget a larger amount for a quality sofa, because it is probably what you will use more, and a smaller amount for seats or tables, which could be replaced more easily when necessary.
